Optics of Functional Materials Group is organized by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Reza Dousti at UACSA/UFRPE on December 2020. The initial idea of this group is to enlarge the interactions between the professors at UFRPE and to look for new collaborations, challenges and ... .
OFMaG was initially orginized by the participation of two master degree and two undergraduate students and later, more professors and pos-doc fellows have joined the group.
Optics of Functional Materials Group combines experiment, theory, and data science to address both fundamnetal issues in functional materials and applied problems needing technology development. We are interested not only in characterize th optical properties of materials, but also in searching for solutions for advacned applications of materials in technology, and industry. This way, we study the structural, magentic and thermal properties of the materials using the most advanced characteriaton techniques placed in our laboratories.
Some of our research interests are listed below;
- Synthesis of diverse functional materials such as glasses, glass-ceramics, ceramics, nanoparticles, etc.
- Optical, thermal and structural properties of materials, such as glasses, nanoparticles, etc.
- Linear and non-linear optical properties of materials.
- Optical properties of rare earth doped materials.
- Rare earth doped materials for optical applications such as thermal sensors, LEDs, lasers, optical fibers etc.
